Subconscious methods of design.

And how the subconscious can simply be described as our pure instinct and reaction to situations and experiences.

As much as the displays are interesting I still never find myself compelled to go into the store and buy anything. Why is that?
Of course the displays make this brand unique and individual in its approach to gaining the consumers attention but does it actually draw people into the store? Oe merely a ply to make the consumer remember the brand?

What caught my attention on this webpage was the space layout of the designs. Many though with few objects of attention still expressed exactly what the brand wanted and showcased their products clearly and beautifully.

Can I hope to be here one day? Or maybe freelance. This is the type of work I'm aiming for. Displays and Exhibitions within its own small space. The art of window displays comes into its own!

a little late.

I know its been a long while since my last post in fact a month. However i have been keeping up to date, in that i have been keeping my sketchbook up to date. I have found while doing this project that keeping records and collecting research physically helps me to better collate my work whereas documenting it online proves a little more than unsuccessful.

I know it shouldn't be an excuse and I'm not making it one. But I suppose I'm trying to make sense of it all and use it as an insight as to how i work. But i do see a problem ahead, we are at an age where everything we do is documented electronically. So the question is...will my work method and I be able to keep up?

LV archive '09 exhibit.

I don't like the space layout....so much more could have be done with the space without distracting from the actual exhibit. it seems a bit bland. I agree it is a clean and seamless space but visually it could be more interesting and made to really show off the items of fashion.

I suppose its an experience but then i find I'm not really watching the film at all...but that was the point right?

again from another blog...but its the only ones that truly represent what it is i liked about the design.
Its atmospheric, the entire production design is based on playing with the audiences emotions and imagination. This was done by the clever use of lightning and the re-invention of props. To use the same prop over and over, each time becoming a different object just by the mere will of imagination and belief.

since my aim is to work in the industry of event design - this covering the bases of corporate and advertising and conventions. I starting to look at event designers....then i hit the snag...there are no well known or even listed names of event designers...they are all listed as individual companies, much like a freelancers design in theatre. So in the end I had to just look at set designers work of whom i admired or took interest in. 

This is taking a very different turn of events on my path to working out my project goal.

i had to start somewhere...so..back to basics.
yes.. i had to look it up again since its been about 5 years since i last used any of this. Bad for a design student I know.
But its helped to gain a better insight as to how and why certain colours are used when trying to grab an audiences attention. Noticing that this is used not only for set or stage design but in almost everything we do and see.

So whats my project?.

well its along the lines of - The psychology behind the differentiation of entertainment and art. but since this topic is so broad I've begun to look closer at what aspect(s) of the 'entertainments' design it is that draws us in and grabs our attention. 

How do we choose what we like and why do we choose it?

Do we dictate our design or does the audience dictate for the designer?

First time user.

Been told to create a blog by my Ma course, depite having avoided doing so for the past three years as an undergraduate. Guess we'll see how this goes.
