Keeping Score: Stravinsky- The Rite of Spring

Watch Stravinsky's Rite of Spring on PBS. See more from Keeping Score.

Igor Stravinky: The Rite of Spring

Began looking at interaction of the audience and subject.....
Found a common running theme

NARRATIVE

something that gave the topic/ subject sense and made it easier to remember... something with a beginning - middle - end.

So for my piece I started to try and focus on narrative. Picking out themes and points of interest...

Spring
Fashion
Light
Marketing

I settled on Spring.

So how do I promote the fashion pieces to suggest the idea of spring on their own and not only by material and colour or the season that it was sold in?.....

Narrative.....and one of the most famous creative Spring pieces known is Stravinky's The Rite of Spring. (1913)

Does involvement need interaction?

This question came up while looking back through my blog, and having one article strike me. The window display article by cosmetics company LUSH and the window stage demonstration against animal testing.

It brought the questions of HOW and WHY the shoppers stopped to watch...was it because they saw movement?
A animal rights campaign?
A show?
But WHY did it engage them?......... Did it involve  them? Psychologically? Emotionally?
But they didn't hear or touch the actors...it was merely a spectacle...so could it really have made a connection with the audience?

New Direction...late but at least I arrived.

So to bring up to speed on my latest activities....
NO I'm not designing for the 'club' space anymore and it had turned into more of a sculptural exhibit piece. This due to the fact that I did not like the direction as to which I was working towards.
And after many talks with tutors and mentors alike, I think I have finally found something that I actually have interest in.

Fashion Marketing Design......BUT design in the visual environmental and physical sense not the graphic and business.

So where to start?.....
